The Virginia women have done it again, defending their 2021 title by winning the 2022 NCAA Division I Women’s Swimming And Diving Championships by 145.5 points, and scoring a total of 551.5 points. This was an improvement from their finish last year, where they scored 491 points and beat runner-up NC State by 137 points. The win marked the largest margin of victory for a women’s meet since 2018, when Stanford beat Cal by 220 points.
happy for the Hooos and Todd.
Bro prolly heard my conversation from across the nation with those ears
man’s can probably hear everything. dolores madrigal head ahh
Post a head shot so we can analyze what you have going on
Love the point about learning from his athletes. Everyone’s got different experiences and perspectives, regardless of their age; we can learn something from everyone
Of all the things the ISL has messed up, the thing that I think KG has gotten most-correct is (at least the rhetoric, if not the practice) of “these athletes are geniuses in a way.”
Kate Douglass is the best ever at what she’s done. Not every elite athlete is equipped for a two way dialogue, but to some degree it can be coached. And if they have that, or you can coach it into them, and you have a partnership more than a dictatorship, imagine what you can accomplish.
After the awards ceremony & they jumped in the pool to celebrate there was something else few noticed: UVA’s AD Carla Williams & UVA President took the plunge with them.
That’s right; the Athletic Director & the President of the University showed up last night to celebrate with the team. THAT is huge support for any non-revenue sport, particularly for a women’s sport. The institution cares & it really shines through.
Congrats to the Hoos.
President Ryan was not in Atlanta last night, but yes, AD Williams and Senior AD for Swimming Dirk Katstra did jump in with Virginia. I’m sure President Ryan will take the plunge back in Charlottesville though! Maybe this time he’ll take his shoes off! Completely agree though, the support this team receives from admin is phenomenal.
Carla, the UVA AD, was the sport administrator at UGA when they made their run. UGA last win or Top 4 performance was 2016…..Carla left for UVA in 2017. Coincidence?
Brain fart, but who or what is KG?

A dialogue on leadership that I will use for other purposes, thanks SwimSwam.
Wahoowa!
I really think that he would be a great coach in other sports, not just swimming & diving.
