Five Duke Swimmers & Divers Named To All-ACC Academic Team

DURHAM – Five members of the Duke swimming & diving team were named to the 2022 All-ACC Academic Team, the conference announced Thursday.

The five Blue Devils representing head coach Dan Colella‘s squad were sophomore Sarah Foley, sophomore Seamus Harding Jr., senior Maddi Pullinger, sophomore Catherine Purnell and junior Ali Watson. Watson and Pullinger earned their third honors while Harding Jr., Foley and Purnell garnered their second.

Virginia’s Kate Douglas was named the Women’s ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Louisville’s Nicolas Albiero and North Carolina’s Anton Down-Jenkins were tabbed Co-Men’s ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Duke’s five selections mark the ninth consecutive season the Blue Devils have placed five or more student-athletes on the team.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.

Duke has now placed 115 on All-ACC Academic teams since the award’s inception in 2007.
