A group of 17-18’s from the King Aquatic Club in Seattle, Washington has broken the National Age Group Record in the girls’ 200 medley relay.
Swimming at their own pool, at the Pacific Northwest Swimming (PNS) Long Course Championship meet, Hannah Weiss, Carolyn McCann, Heidi VanderWel, and Morgan Ginnis (all of whom are only 17) posted a 1:56.39, which broke the 2011 record set by the Aquajets in suburban Minneapolis at 1:57.57.
Going under that Aquajets record is really impressive, considering the names that were on it: Katie Bootsma, her sister (and Olympian) Rachel Bootsma, Abby Duncan, and Chandra Yueh.
The splits for the new record as compared to the old record:

As you can see, King didn’t have those two really dominant splits (Bootsma and Duncans’), but they had a very balanced relay, led by an outstanding lead off from Hannah Weiss at 29.26, and an impressive anchor from Ginnis as well.
They are coached by 2000 U.S. Olympian Tommy Hannan. Weiss would go on later in the session to swim a 1:00.77 in the individual 100 backstroke event.
I realize that, I was just pointing out how deep they are. Hannan has done a great job there.
But she is 16… The B relay were all 15-16 while the “A” were all 17-18
Kings B relay had a faster anchor than the A as well.
That was a comment that should have been kept to yourself. Does not look good for a team to break a national record and then see a comment like that below such a big accomplishment. Who knows another mixture may not of had the same results.
