What They Are Saying
Wingate senior Frederik Oscar Møller

“This meet against Queens was a great start to the season. Although it was a different combination of events raced this week, I think that we as a team rose to the occasion and displayed some great racing. I also swam some different events than I would usually swim, but for where we are in the season right now, with the practice intensity that we’ve had, the races were decent.”

“I also really want to give a shout out to the freshmen. I really enjoyed the energy they had and the performances they brought. I especially want to shout out freshman Ney Chagas Filho for his performance in the 100 Backstroke…showing some great racing and out-touching and defeating the 2022 NCAA Division II national champion (Finn Howard) in the 100 Backstroke.”

“I think that this was a great first meet. Now as we move on to the next meets, starting at the Ohio University Invitational next weekend, we will have plenty of room for improvement.”

Wingate senior team captain Grace Williams

“Queens was the perfect meet to kick off the season because our team is always challenged and they push us to give our best! It was fun swimming the 100 IM since I have not swum this event since I was much younger. The 800 Freestyle Relay is always a tough, but fun race. Relays are always my favorite. I enjoy swimming, having my teammates with me. This next weekend, we’ll be traveling to Ohio for our first invitational of the season. We are looking forward to the challenge.”

Next on the agenda

– Wingate will travel to the Buckeye State for the Ohio University Invitational next Friday and Saturday
