LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – The Lehigh women’s swimming and diving team came away with a thrilling performance against Rider, defeating the Broncs 227-69 Saturday afternoon.
The Mountain Hawks improved to 3-1 on the year, and the Broncs fell to 0-2.
It was a whole team effort from Lehigh as the Mountain Hawks placed first in all 16 events on the women’s side. This was the second straight year Lehigh won all 16 events.
Senior Sarah Hardy set a Rider pool record in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.85. Hardy also won the 200-yard freestyle and was on the winning 200-yard medley relay team.
“It was great to see senior Sarah Hardy set a pool record in the fly,” said head coach Rob Herb. “She is quickly becoming one of the Patriots premier butter flyers. I will see more amazing things from her.”
Senior Danielle Prekop had an excellent day finishing in first in every event she competed in. She was also on the winning 200-yard medley relay team, and she won the 100-yard backstroke and the 200-yard IM.
It was a 1-2-3 punch in the 100-yard backstroke for the Mountain Hawks, with Willa Werwaiss coming in first, Hallie Wilson coming in second and Noel Fresa coming in third.
The women also swept the 500-yard freestyle. Natalie Martin took home a first-place finish (5:12.68), Maggie Mikalic came in second, and Julia Stevens finished in third.
Sophomore diver Sarah Gill continued her hot streak and improved to 6-0 on the season in her dives. She won the one-meter dive with 240.75 points, and she scored 208.73 points in the one-meter dive to come home with another victory.
The Mountain Hawks will have almost a month off before their next meet when they take on Lafayette on Nov. 18.

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Rider University men’s swimming and diving team found success in their home opener Saturday afternoon, defeating Lehigh 192.5-95.5. The Broncs even their record at 1-1, while the Mountain Hawks fall to 1-3.
The Bronc men won 14 events in the meet.
Rider started the day with a win in the 200-medley relay. Lucas Racevicius (Watertown, CT/Holy Cross), David Cooper (Spring, TX/Klein Oak), Nicholas Lane (Hackettstown, NJ/Lane Academy), and Billy Ruddy (Newton, NJ/Kittatinny Regional) combined to touch the wall at 1:31.86.
Ethan Rogowski (Waterford, NY/Shenendehowa), Derek Fantano, and Brayden Murphy (Victor, NY/Victor Sr.) finished one-two-three in the 1,000-free with times of 9:49.35, 9:54.52, and 10:02.95 respectively. Rogowski then won the 500-free in 4:47.53.
Racevicius took the 200-free with a time of 1:42.53 and the 100-fly in 50.12.
Lane and Christian Overton went one-two in the 100-back with times of 51.30 and 51.48. Overton, David Rucci (Sewell, NJ/Gateway Regional), and Fantano swept the 200-back in 1:51.43, 1:54.85, and 1:56.12.
Cooper swam one-two with Reuben Williams (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) in the 100-breast. The pair stopped the clock at 57.94 and 59.77. Cooper also won the 200-breast in 2:07.85.
Bobby Irwin (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) and Rucci swam 1:52.67 and 1:55.59 in the 200-fly to finish one-two.
Ruddy tied for first in the 50-free in 21.15.
Rucci was victorious in the 200-IM with a time of 1:55.32.
In the diving well, Sean Binning (Annandale, VA/W.T. Woodson) and Marcas Racevicius (Watertown, CT/Holy Cross) split the events with Binning taking first over Racevicius 285.68-243.15 in the 1-meter and Racevicius topping Binning 300.83-253.43 in the 3-meter.
