NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The University of Delaware’s women’s swimming and diving team wrapped up their second meet of the season as they competed against Yale in New Haven, Conn.

“Very happy with the way we fought today, head coach Pablo Marmelajo said. “We came out a little flat after the long ride, but the team rallied in the second half. We still have much to improve, but we are training hard and this level of competition is great for us.”

Mira Selling continued her impressive start to the season with a first-place finish in the 200 fly (2:03.42). In the 100 free, she placed second with a time of 51.37.

Mania Tasakou highlighted the Blue Hens in the 100 breast with a second-place finish (1:04.95). Tasakou had another strong performance in the 200 breast with a third-place finish and season-best time of 2:20.54. Erin Lillis finished in fifth place with a season-best time of 1:07.54 in the 100 breast and fourth place with a season-best time in the 200 breast (2:26.23). Jenna Leonard also recorded season-best times in the 100 breast (1:08.18) and 200 breast (2:27.48) and finished in sixth and fifth place in the events Marietta Gately had a season-best mark of 2:29.36 in the 200 breast.

Cristin Earley led the way for the Blue Hens in the 100 back with a fourth-place finish (58.91), while Natalie Dobrzykowski (59.59) and Aislinn Mitchell (59.77) followed right behind. Erin Shema took first place in the 200 back (2:03.91), however, while Earley placed in third with a season-best time of 2:04.03.

Julia Cichowska performed well in the 100 fly (58.19) and 200 fly (2:09.84), both season-best times and placing in second and fourth. Mitchell finished in fifth place in the 100 fly with a season-best time of 58.74 and Alexandra Misikova in sixth place (59.11). Also in the 200 fly, Misikova (2:14.82) placed sixth.

Nicole Chiappa recorded a fourth-place finish (24.64), Sullivan a fifth-place finish (24.67), and Peyton Rautzhan a sixth-place finish (25.16) in the 50 free. Also in the 100 free, Chiappa (53.56) and Anthi Lyra (54.03) placed in fifth and sixth place.  In the 200 free, Shema finished in fourth place (1:52.72), Lyra finished in fifth place (1:55.48), and Bella Granetzke finished in sixth place with a season-best time of 1:57.76. Dobrzykowski finished in third place in the 500 free (5:13.47), while Granetzke recorded a time of 5:15.63 and Charlise Oberholzer recorded a season-best time of 5:15.64.

During the 400 IM, Lillis (4:37.78), Gately (4:44.40), and Oberholzer (4:46.55) all finished in fourth, fifth, and sixth place.

The 200 freestyle relay team of Shema, Chiappa, Lyra, and Selling finished in second place with a time of 1:36.90. The 200 medley relay team of Shema, Tasakou, Mitchell, and Selling finished in third place with a time of 1:46.47.

On the diving side, Alex Pastris earned her first zone cut of the season as she had 269.33 points in the 1-meter and placed in third. Julia Servas improved on her zone cut mark from the Blue Hens’ first meet of the season with a score of 267.30 and a fourth-place finish. Rowan O’Sullivan had a score of 230.10, Jordan Campbell had a score of 228.38, and Ella Drazek had a score of 215.03.

In the 3-meter diving, Pastris again placed in third with a score of 265.73, while O’Sullivan (243.08), Servas (238.65), Campbell (227.48), and Drazek (207.23) all followed.

Delaware returns home to compete against William & Mary and James Madison University on Nov. 5.

Toni Sabev highlighted Delaware in the 100 breast with a first-place finish and season-best time of 55.28, while Evan Frick finished in third place (58.65), Jack Zapp in sixth place (59.56), and Jack Gibson in seventh place (59.77). Frick placed second in the 200 breast with a season-best time of 2:05.76, while Gibson finished in fourth place (2:09.89), Toni Sabev in fifth place (2:10.02), and Zapp in sixth place (2:11.82).

In the 100 back, Gavin Currie finished in second place (50.93), T.J. Yaglenski in third place with a season-best time of 51.63, and Ryan Polino in fifth place (52.61). Currie also finished in second place in the 200 back with a season-best time of 1:48.49, while Dylan Smolders placed fourth (1:57.03).

In the 100 fly, Simeon Sabev finished in fourth place (50.96) and Yaglenski finished in fifth place (51.53). Jack Hattery finished in third place in the 200 fly (1:55.09) and Simeon Sabev finished in fourth place (1:59.61).

Matvei Namakonov finished in third place (21.25) in the 50 free and fifth place in the 100 free (47.36). Collins finished in fifth place in the 50 free (21.40) and seventh place in the 100 free (47.86), both season-best times. Tim Grossi finished in sixth place (22.50) in the 50 free. Miguel Vasquez recorded a second place finish in the 100 free with a personal-best time of 46.16 and third place (1:44.50) in the 200 free. Jacob Replogle paced the Blue Hens in the 200 free with a second-place finish and season-best time of 1:43.19. Luke Rautzhan also recorded a personal-best time in the 100 free (47.64) and finished in fifth place in the 200 free (1:46.22).  Andrew Taylor led the Delaware trio in the 500 free with a second place finish and season-best time of 4:34.46, with Replogle (4:43.27) and Kevin Lewke with a season-best time of 4:52.98 following behind. In the 1000 free, Lewke finished in fourth place (10:01.68).

Smolders (4:08.27), Taylor (4:08.46), and Hattery (4:12.06) all finished second, third, and fourth in the 400 IM.

The 200 medley relay team of Currie, Toni SabevSimeon Sabev, and Namakonov finished in second place with a time of 1:30.44. The 200 free relay team of Simeon Sabev, Ryan, Miguel Vasquez, and Currie finished in third place with a time of 1:25.24.

Kevin Siegfried continued his strong performance from his first meet by finishing in fourth place in the 1-meter dive (249.75) and in third place in the 3-meter dive (299.03). Also in the 1-meter, Philip Townsend finished in fifth place (234.00) and Philip Townsend finished in sixth place (197.63). Townsend finished in fifth place (261.30) and Shipley in sixth place (236.33) in the 3-meter dive as well.

Delaware returns home to compete against William & Mary and James Madison University on Nov. 5.
