UC San Diego Wins 13 of 14 Events In Victory Over UC Davis

DAVIS, Calif.  – In a Saturday afternoon matchup, UC San Diego women’s swim and dive team topped UC Davis on the road after winning 13 of 14 events.

The Triton women posted a final score of 174.5 over the Aggies’ 118.5.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Taking first in 13 events, the Tritons were led by their upperclassmen, Jordan PhillipsMiranda RennerTina ReuterJuli Arzave, and Katja Pavicevic, whom all took first in multiple events. Leading off the meet with a win, the 200-yard medley relay team made up of Phillips, Pavicevic, Renner, and Reuter posted a 1:41.60 time to put 11 points on the board for the gold and blue.

Phillips and Renner proceed to take first in three more events each. In the 100-yard backstroke, Phillips added nine points to the board with a time of 56.89, sneaking past the UCD swimmer by 0.67 seconds. Renner’s second win came in the 50-yard freestyle. She posted a 23.74 time with teammate Mackenzie Lee finishing 0.15 seconds after her. Posting a 55.79 in the 100-yard butterfly, Phillips snagged her third first-place finish. Finishing first for the third time on the day, Renner took the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 52.60. The duo’s fourth finish was in another relay. They swam lead-off and anchor with Lee and Reuter holding the second and third slots. The team posted a time of 1:34.04 to add the final 11 points to the Tritons’ score.

Arzave and Pavicevic each contributed 18 points to the Tritons’ final score. Arzave took first in the 500-yard freestyle and the grueling 1650-yard freestyle with teammate Sophia Bell taking second. Pavicevic took first in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing almost three seconds faster than second. In her third first-place finish, Pavicevic posted a 2:13.48 time, which was five seconds ahead of her competitors.

Aneta Wyzga took first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:51.99 adding her own total of 15 points to the Tritons’ score. Lexi DePaco added her own 14 points on the day taking first in the 200-yard butterfly with a 2:04.32 time.

QUOTABLE
The Triton squad’s travel began at 4 am and head coach Marko Djordjevic commented, “I am happy that we had the performance we did against another MPSF team. They showed great energy despite a difficult traveling day.”

Looking ahead he added, “We will get some rest tomorrow, but we will be back at it on Monday morning to prepare for another busy week with Cal, Pepperdine, and UC Santa Barbara on Friday and Saturday.”

UP NEXT
UC San Diego returns home to host the Cal women’s squad on Nov. 4 at Canyonview Aquatic Center. They will then join the men’s squad at Pepperdine to compete with their host and UC Santa Barbara in a tri-meet on Nov. 5 in Malibu, Calif.

DAVIS, Calif. – The Aggies took part in their first MPSF meet of the season as they took on UC San Diego at Schaal Aquatics Center. The Tritons won the conference opener, 174.5-118.5

Senior Sydney Wren was the top scorer of the day for the Aggies as she won the 1 Meter Diving competition (182.50) and came in third in the 3 Meter Diving competition (180.70).

Sophomore Sam Rhodes won the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:27.59.

The Aggies will have a couple weeks off before they hit the pool again. The next meet for the Aggies will be November 17th-19th as they take part in the Trailblazer Invitational hosted by Utah Institute of Technology in St. George, Utah.
