BOSTON – The Boston University women’s swimming & diving team had the top finisher in every event, resulting in a 212-82 dual victory over Providence on Saturday at the FitRec Competition Pool.

Junior Lara Mitchell, sophomore Sasha Ramey and freshman Haley Newman were victorious in two events each while eight other Terriers claimed a win on the day.

Mitchell swept the backstroke events, finishing the 100 in 57.21 and the 200 in 2:05.19, while Newman took the two butterfly events, posting times of 56.91 in the 100 and 2:05.95 in the 200.

Ramey was one of five BU swimmers to win a freestyle event as she was victorious in the 100 in a time of 53.09 and also had the best time in the 200 IM (2:08.58). Other freestyle winners were junior Madison Kim (24.39 – 50), freshman Stella Langenbach (1:55.27 – 200), junior Sydney Sorbello (5:17.64 – 500) and junior Anastasia Belyakov (10:53.84 – 1,000).

The breaststroke events were won by junior Clarissa Hoyt (1:06.67 – 100) and sophomore Ashley Scafetta (2:23.59 – 200) while two juniors took the diving events with Sumi Cameron posting a 266.48 in the 3-meter and Karina Moy earning a score of 260.03 in the 1-meter.

The 200 medley relay of Mitchell, Scafetta, Ramey and freshman Janhvi Choudhary opened the meet with a winning time of 1:46.84. In the 200 freestyle relay, Newman, Choudhary, junior Blythe Brenner and Kim had a time of 1:36.65.

The Terriers will return to action in two weeks when they host the three-day Terrier Invitational on Nov. 18-20.

BOSTON – The Boston University men’s swimming & diving team rolled past Providence, 185-95, on Saturday afternoon at the FitRec Competition Pool.

Junior Justin Lee, sophomore Nathan Herman and freshman Tony Ponomarev each won two events on the day and four others had one win apiece as the Terriers moved their dual record to 2-2.

Herman took first in the 200 breast in a time of 2:07.96 before touching the wall first in the 200 IM (1:56.33). Ponomarev swept the backstroke events with times of 51.41 (100) and 1:51.25 (200).

Lee took first in the 100 fly, posting a time of 51.26, and was one of four Terriers to win a freestyle event as he won the 50 free (21.00), sophomore Piergiulio Bressan took the 200 free (1:44.47), senior Ethan Thomas was victorious in the 100 free (46.60) and sophomore Dolan Grisbaum topped all competitors in the 1,000 free (9:46.96).

Sophomore Andy Carlson registered a victory in the 100 breast with a time of 58.40.

Both relays took first as the 200 medley relay of senior Jacob Lindner, Carlson, freshman Ben Cho and junior Adrien Pierce won in a time of 1:33.86 while Thomas, sophomore Keegan Duffy, Cho and Lee took the 200 free relay in a time of 1:24.14.

The Terriers will return to action in two weeks when they host the three-day Terrier Invitational on Nov. 18-20.

BOSTON, Mass. – The Providence College swimming & diving programs competed at Boston University on Saturday, Nov. 5 in Boston, Mass. BU swept the meet, earning team victories in both the men’s (185-95) and women’s (212-82) sides.

On the women’s side, Maddy O’Connor won the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:13.96, topping the field by just over three seconds. The 200-yard freestyle relay team, comprised of Sally AlrutzTaylor Loud, Grace Erickson and Courtney Reilly claimed victory in 1:40.70.

Reilly also put up a second-place finish in the 100-yard free with a time of 53.72. She was beaten to the wall by BU’s Sasha Ramey, who finished in 53.09.

For the men’s squad, Quinn Danus claimed an individual victory in the 200-yard butterfly (1:58.26). Seth Brodnick also picked up a win in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:51.44, finishing nearly six seconds ahead of the field.

Alex Beauchene took second place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:44.73. He was narrowly edged out of the top spot by BU’s Pier Bressan (1:44.47). Parker Keller also had a close race in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing second in the event with a time of 58.97. Andy Carlson of Boston University took first in 58.40. Will Layden was outpaced by just .18 in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing second in a time of 46.78. The winner (Ethan Thomas) touched the wall in 46.60. Layden also finished second in the 100-yard butterfly (51.50).
