Charlotte Crush Jumps To #4 All-Time In 13-14 Age Group With 51.28 100 Back

2022 WINTER JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS – EAST

Competing against athletes up to four years her elder, 14-year-old Charlotte Crush claimed the top seed in the girls’ 100 backstroke prelims at Winter Juniors – East with a bullet on Friday, recording a time of 51.28.

Crush’s time knocks 68 one-hundredths off her previous best time of 51.96, set this past March, and moves her up three spots in the girls’ 13-14 all-time rankings.

The Lakeside Swim Team product now sits fourth in age group history, just a quarter of a second shy of the National Age Group Record held by Levenia Sim.

Compared to her previous best, which ranks her as the fastest 13-year-old in history, Crush was out a bit quicker on Friday but really made inroads on the second 50.

Crush is coming off a breakthrough performance on the international stage last month, making a pair of finals just minutes apart at the FINA World Cup stop in Indianapolis. One of those came in the 100 back, where she swam a time of 57.70 (SCM) to place sixth against a loaded field featuring some of the best swimmers in the world.

On the opening day of individual events in Greensboro, Crush placed sixth in the girls’ 50 freestyle in a time of 22.55, with her best time sitting at 22.14.

Prior to her 100 back prelim swim on Friday, Crush also advanced second into the final of the 100 fly, clocking 51.52 to near her personal best of 51.46.
