Saint Francis Women Win 12 of 14 Events In Senior Day Victory Over Millersville

LORETTO, Pa – The Red Flash returned to the pool for the first time since November with a massive win over Division II Millersville at the Stokes Natatorium. The Saint Francis swimmers won 12 out of the 14 possible events as they were able to establish the momentum from the very first race. It was also Senior Day in Loretto as Krysta WeikJulia SpringerShauna AbairMargaret BissPaige BacigalJulia BradfordBrittany Heckler, and Zoey Wilson were all commemorated prior to the meet for their contributions to the Red Flash program.

Aurem PifarreInde Patterson, and Sara Turner all led the way with two wins a piece on Saturday afternoon. Maddie DandoKrysta WeikOksana Horova, and Anna Bernasconi each picked up an individual win. Saint Francis was also able to pick up two relay wins in the 200 yard medley and the 400 yard freestyle races.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Pifarre snagged first place in the 1000 yard freestyle to start things out with a time of 10:45.63, she also finished first in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:09.76.

Patterson secured first place in the 100 yard backstroke with a quick time of 1:00.43, she then claimed first in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:01.93.

Turner rounded out the two-win individuals with a first place victory in the 200 yard butterfly with a good time of 2:11.98. Turner then got first place in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:13.31.

Dando got her individual win of the day in the 200 yard backstroke with a quick time of 2:10.68.

The celebrated senior Weik got her win in the 200 yard breaststroke with a solid time of 2:26.55.

Horova, the freshman secured first place in the 100 yard freestyle with a good time of 54.27.

Bernasconi rounds out the individual wins with a first place finish in the 50 yard freestyle, collecting  a time of 24.85.

Saint Francis got two relay wins on the day, the first being the 200 yard medley. The team consisting of Weik, Patterson, Bernasconi, and Marija Dodik secured a time of 1:48.73.

Rounding out the 12 wins came the 400 yard freestyle relay squad for the Red Flash. The group made up of Horova, Weik, Bernasconi, and Sara Blanco finished first with a time of 3:37.01.

 UP NEXT
The Red Flash won’t have to wait long til their next meet as they’ll face off against Siena next Saturday afternoon. The meet is scheduled for 11 AM. Saint Francis only has two meets remaining before the NEC Championships at the end of February.

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Millersville Women’s swim team ends their weekend with a head-to-head dual against St. Francis.

The Red Flash out scored the Marauders 194-66, taking first place in a majority of the events. Claire Weaver and Leah Eckert both took first in their perspective races.

Jane McClellandKristen MaileJewels HepnerMackenzie Yosko, and Jordan Plempel had top three finishes in several different events.

Thoughts from Coach Usbeck after the meet 
“After a lot of racing this weekend, finishing out against Saint Francis a strong D1 program gave us a challenging group of swimmers to race. The experiences that we gained from this will allow us to finish out our year better. I am eager to use what we have learned into play for our next competitions.”

The Marauders are back in action next Saturday, January 21, at 10 a.m to compete in the John A. Pidgeon Invitational.
