Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
A multiple-time IHSAA Swimming and Diving State Championships finalist, high school junior Seth Cannon has announced his commitment for the fall of 2024, electing to swim at the University of Missouri.
“I’m excited to announce I am continuing my athletic and academic careers at the University of Missouri. I would like to thank my family, teammates, and coaches who have helped me reach this point. I also want to thank Coach Grevers and his staff for giving me this amazing opportunity. I can’t wait to be a Tiger! M – I – Z 🐯🐯”
While representing Castle High School, Cannon was a two event finalist at the 2023 IHSAA Boy’s Swimming and Diving State Championships in February. Hitting lifetime bests in both events, his top finish came in the 200 free, where he took 5th in 1:38.55. He also added a 6th place finish in the 100 free, finishing in 46.11. He was slightly faster in that event during prelims, breaking 46.0 for the first time in his career with a time of 45.85.
That swim in the 200 marks nearly a second improvement between his sophomore and junior year state championships. At the 2022 edition of the meet, he was nearly a full second slower in the event, finishing in 1:39.49 during prelims. During finals, he touched at 1:40.66 to take 7th.

With his best times currently, Cannon would already help to provide solid depth in the freestyle events for the Tigers. So far this season, Mizzou has been primarily led by fifth-year Jack Dahlgren in the freestyle events. Dahlgren is one of the program’s most successful swimmers of all time, qualifying for five straight NCAA Championships and being a multiple-time All-American honoree. He currently ranks in the top-10 all-time for the program in seven different events.
Mizzou is coming off of a 2023 SEC Championships that saw the men finish in 6th out of 10 teams. Cannon will have some work to do to get into scoring range in the freestyle events as it took 1:35.62/4:20.65 to earn second swims at the meet in the 200 and 500 freestyles.
This year, the Tigers are set to send five swimmers to the NCAA Championships with Dahlgren and Clement Secchi highlighting the group. Dahlgren enters the meet as the second seed in the 200 free while Secchi is seeded 8th in the 200 fly. Both have multiple other individual swims as well.
While the freshman class of 2024 still has a while before it’s complete, Missouri already has commitments from multiple swimmers specializing in distance and mid-distance freestyle events. Cannon will be joined by Conner Boatright, Anakin Fischer, and Trey Cunneen, all of whom swim primarily distance freestyle. Of the group, Cannon currently boasts the fastest time in the 200 free while Boatright has been faster in the 500 (4:24.66).
