Harvard Adds Breaststroke/IM Specialist Gabi Augustyn to Recruiting Class of 2024

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Wisconsin native Gabi Augustyn has announced her commitment to swim for Harvard University beginning in the fall of 2024. Augustyn is a breaststroke and IM specialist representing Eau Claire Memorial High School.

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to the admissions process to study and swim at Harvard University!! Thank you to my family, friends, coaches, and teammates for the unconditional support throughout my swim career. Go Crimson!”

At the Wisconsin High School Division 1 State Championship in November, Augustyn made an impressive showing, placing 5th in the 100 breaststroke and 6th in the 200 IM. Her 200 IM time of 2:05.29 improved upon her previous best time of 2:05.44 set the weekend before at the Wisconsin High School Sectional meet. In the 100 breaststroke, Augustyn posted a season best time of 1:04.59.

On the club level, Augustyn swims year round for YMCA of The Chippewa Valley. In late February, Augustyn competed in the Wisconsin Senior Short Course Championships in Brown Deer, Wisconsin, where she focused primarily on breaststroke and IM events. Her highest placing of the meet came in the 200 breaststroke, where Augustyn swam a time of 2:19.59 to take home the bronze. Augustyn also had top 8 finishes in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.03) and 200 IM (2:09.56).

Top SCY Times:

  • 100 breast- 1:04.32
  • 200 breast- 2:17.07
  • 200 IM- 2:05.29
  • 400 IM- 4:26.80
  • 200 back- 2:05.14

At the 2023 Ivy League Championships, the Harvard women finished second overall. With her current best times, Augustyn would have had several finals performances at Harvard’s conference meet, most notably a scoring swim in the 200 yard breaststroke (15th). Her 100 breaststroke and 400 IM times would have put her just shy of scoring range at this year’s Ivy League Championships.
