Anyone else pay the $9.99 and are still not able to watch even though you’re in the US? It’s just playing an ESPN commercial on repeat.
Yea, it’s just playing the same ESPN ad over and over
yep something’s messed up
can one of the Swimswam staff please record and upload videos to youtube in a playlist?? for international fans who can’t watch ESPNU. thanks. love everything y’all do for swimming xx
How To Watch The Men’s NCAA D1 Swimming Championships: You Can’t
I love that for you.
Hate that for us
There are a lot of folks outside the US who would love to watch this…..
VPN and 9.99 to ESPN+
This is the way
People keep saying this but have they actually even tried it? Payment requires an American credit card.
What VPN you using? Free?
Agree $10 for a month is about $1.25 per session if you did women and men’s meet. What would these people pay to watch in person? More than $1.25!
Do you think the NCAA D1 will ever combine men and women and swim it in coliseum like Omaha?
Combine the two like D2 and D3 and have one BIG DANCE PARTY.
There are plenty of venues that have coliseum connected to convention centers were 50 meter pools could be erected for warm up and warm down.
Cringe
why they gotta do it during march madness
This is the march madness
Before everyone starts bashing ESPN+ and having to pay $10/month subscription: We have always complained that swimming does not get nearly enough coverage as other sports do. We also complain that swimmers and coaches don’t get paid nearly as much as our counterparts from other sports. So before you complain about having to pay to watch this meet, think about how paying will help this sport. It’s finally an easy, monetary way to contribute to the swimming community in response to all of our complaints. I will gladly be paying to watch. Thank you for reading!
I just watch on YouTube after the videos are posted, which is often pretty quick. As for the $10 fee, I don’t think it really goes to the swimming community but rather to the ESPN+ bottom line.
Same. The rationalizations are fine for suckers. I’ll choose not to bash ESPN+ and not to pay. One thing about being a sports bettor is you learn to apply value everywhere. Consequently this inflation era is not a big deal. If it went up sharply in price I’m not involved.
$10 for 8 days of NCAA Championship swimming is a bad value in your model?
$1.25 per day. A bargain.
I wonder if they will watch Trials in Indy next year? That is a logical concern but $10 for this month is well worth it.
I am luck to go to men’s this week starting tomorrow!
Interesting statement Dooger!
Equating SPORTS BETTING and VALUE
doesn’t make sense.
You seem to have a very high opinion of yourself and you must think broadcasting an event that you watch for enjoyment
doesn’t cost much. Do YOUR RESEARCH….
Also, ESPN promotes a sport that I love and I appreciate any coverage they give us.
Do us swim fans a favor and find another sport. May I suggest Jai Lai
>wagering 1 dollar on a coin flip to net $0.90
>”value”
The geoblocks are so annoying though. I would also gladly be paying to watch if i could do it without having to resort to VPN gymnastics and possibly even need to steal someone’s address to sign up!
Yeah I don’t actually understand the ‘why’ behind the geoblocks. Once it’s produced, it can’t be hard or expensive to just dump it on the international version of ESPN+.
Me thinks it’s laden in the fine print regarding international distribution rights and so forth.
Yeah. Maybe the NCAA is selling international rights for the basketball tournament, and swimming just gets lumped into that?
I guess that makes sense. It’s probably not worth the effort to have a cutout for sports like swimming on the international distro.
This isn’t helpful at all for those outside the US.
VPNs are your friend here
They actually are not because even if you use a VPN payment requires an American credit card.
