Pomona-Pitzer’s Alexandra Turvey Wins 2023 Elite 90 Award For NCAA Division III

Pomona-Pitzer junior Alexandra Turvey has been awarded the 2023 Women’s Elite 90™ Award for NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving.

The award is given every year to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average who competes at the respective NCAA Championships in the sport. Eligibility requires that athletes must have been a member of their team for at least two years and be an active participant at the championship competition.

Turvey, a Biology major at Pomona College who carries a 4.0 grade point average, is the first Elite 90 Award winner in Pomona-Pitzer history.

At the 2023 NCAA Division III Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina, Turvey competed in the 50 free, 100 free, and 100 fly and on P-P’s 200/400 free and 200/400 medley relays. She was runner-up in the 100 fly (54.22), finished eighth in the 100 free (50.91), and tied for tenth place in the 50 free (23.39). She also contributed to the fourth-place 200 free relay (22.59 second leg), fifth-place medley relay (24.45 butterfly leg), sixth-place 400 free relay (49.81 second leg), and seventh-place 400 medley relay (54.50 butterfly leg).

The Sagehens finished ninth in the women’s standings with 202.5 points. They scored in all five relays and in the 50 free, 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 fly, 100 breast, 100 free, and 200 breast.
