2023 SwimSwam NCAA Fantasy Draft: Yanyan Won, Ben Lost

2023 NCAA DIVISION I MEN’S SWIMMING & DIVING CHAMPIONSHIPS

We are back in action at the men’s NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships, which are currently running in Minnesota. That means that we will be continuing with our live updates for the SwimSwam Fantasy Draft, which you can read about here. Each of the four GMs (me, Braden, Yanyan, and Coleman) drafted eight swimmers to our team and are competing to score the most points across the men’s and women’s NCAA Championships.

After the women’s meet, Coleman was in the lead with 74 points, while Yanyan wasn’t far behind with 71. Braden had a respectable 60 points for third place, while I was in last place with 32 points (no comment). Yanyan selections consistent with her team name. Haha, love the irony. Her IQ is stratospheric. Sorry guys, be grateful for the learning opportunity your failures provide. She went with quality. Olympic medalists. Proven success at the highest level. You also-rans got distracted by bathtub swimming. Yanyan kept the big picture in perspective. Congratulations Yanyan! 👍 🥇 🏆

Is Yanyan still 17 years old ? So impressive. (with a bit of luck thrown in but still impressive)

I’m curious how she got this job, considering her youth.

If my calculations are right, the best undrafted team is:
Hobson (16), McDuff (12), Alexy (10), Magahey (8)
Nelson (13), McMahon (12), Elendt (10), Parker (8)
89 points total

Standings without the first four picks would be Yanyan 109, Coleman 75, Braden 73, Ben 54. That undrafted team is likely ambitious-nailing McDuff, Alexy, and Parker would have been very difficult before the meet. But it does compete pretty well if you remove the top 4 from the scoring equation.

Leon vs Ben’s women’s team would be tied right now

He said he accidentally crossed MacNeil off his list or he would have picked her instead of Sullivan. If he had picked her instead then he’d be coming second overall.
