16-year-old Canadian Summer McIntosh broke her second world record in just four days in the 400 IM at Saturday’s Canadian Trials, clocking a 4:25.87 to take down Katinka Hosszu‘s time of 4:26.36 from 2016.
This is your LIVEBARN Race of the Week because after lowering the 400 free world record earlier in the meet (3:56.08), McIntosh is now the first swimmer, male or female, to hold world records in both the 400 free and 400 IM in long course meters — either at the same time or even at different times.
She joins rarefied air as list of swimmers who have broken multiple world records at her age can be counted on one hand: Michael Phelps, Katie Ledecky, Sarah Sjostrom, and Ruta Meilutyte.
