TCU Adds In-State Commitment from Lexi Drap for Fall of 2023

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Opting to remain in the state of Texas for the next four years, Carroll Senior High School’s Lexi Drap has announced her intent to swim for TCU beginning this fall.

Drap finished her high school career at the 2023 UIL 6A Swimming and Diving State Championships in February, making finals in both of her events. Her top finish came in the 200 free where she took 9th, touching in a lifetime best of 1:51.04. She also added a B-finals appearance in the 500 free where she took 14th in 5:00.52.

Just two weeks after the UIL State Championships, Drap hit multiple lifetime bests at the Sectionals meet held in College Station. Her biggest performance came in the 500 free where, for the first time in her career, she dipped below 5:00 with a time of 4:59.51. She also added a lifetime best of 24.08 in the 50 free.

Best Times (SCY)

  • 50 free – 24.08
  • 100 free – 52.20
  • 200 free – 1:51.04
  • 500 free – 4:59.51
  • 1000 free – 10:21.67

When Drap arrives on the TCU campus this fall, she will already have times capable of competing with some of the program’s best in the middle-distance freestyle events. Last season, she would have ranked fifth on the team in the 200 free and fourth in the 500 free.

As a team, TCU finished in third at the 2023 Big-12 Swimming and Diving Championships, falling just nine points short of runner-up Iowa State. The team was led in swimming points by sophomore Jordan Edwards, who finished in the top-8 of the 500 free, 1650 free, and 400 IM. Drap will have two years of overlap with Edwards after arriving on campus this fall.

Drap already holds times capable of scoring at the Big-12 Championships, especially in the 200 free. With her lifetime best, she would have finished 13th in the event in 2023. She’d have also qualified for the C-final of the 500 free, which is unscored.

Joining Drap in the class of 2027 will be Sydney Inman, Amanda Ulicny, Morgan Rodriguez, Inge Ehm, Nina Vadovicova, and Jordyn Warner. Drap overlaps in multiple events with Ulicny who will come to TCU with times of 1:50.72 and 4:53.61 in the 200 and 500 freestyles.

During Drap’s four years at TCU she will be a part of the TCU team that will see a large-scale change in the Big-12 landscape with Texas slated to leave the conference by 2025. While Texas will be leaving the conference, BYU, Houston, and Cincinnati will all be joining the Big-12, bringing the total number of women’s teams in the conference to six. BYU will be joining this fall, while Cincinnati and Houston will make the switch at a later date.
