Shivansh Singhal of Las Vegas, Nevada, has announced his commitment to continue his education and swimming career at Carnegie Mellon University. Singhal is a senior at Palo Verde High School, and trains year-round with the Sandpipers of Nevada under coach Michael Kinross.

Singhal is a Futures qualifier in the 400 IM, owning a personal best time of 4:05.52. Both of his best IM times were done at the LaMirada Sectionals in December. He dropped two seconds in the 400 IM to hit the Futures cut, as well as a tenth in the 200 IM to swim a best time of 1:57.33.
Last summer, Singhal finished off his long course season at the Western Zone Senior Championships, where he advanced to finals in the 200m IM. He swam a season best time of 2:13.69 to finish 21st overall, putting him less than a second off his personal best set a year prior.

Carnegie Mellon is an NCAA Division III program located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They compete in the University Athletic Association (UAA), where the men finished 4th out of eight teams this past season. Leading the way this year at conference was senior Aleksander Tarczynski, who earned 3rd in the 200 fly (1:46.84).
Singhal’s best time in the 400 IM projects him to be just inside the C-final based on this year’s UAA Championship results. Junior Santiago Gomez was Carnegie Mellon’s top performer in the event, finishing 7th in 3:59.12. They also qualified three swimmers ti the B-final, led by freshman Todd Achuff who finished 12th in 4:01.91.
Carnegie Mellon’s incoming class includes Aaron Lee, Harrison Quach, Paul Deynega, Staten Rector, and Thomas Xiao all joining Singhal in the class of 2027. The majority of the class is from the east coast, with Singhal being the only one from the west.
