Winter Juniors Qualifier Luke Brennan Commits to Minnesota for 2024

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Luke Brennan from Robbinsville, New Jersey has announced his commitment to continue his academic and athletic careers at Minnesota beginning in fall 2024.

I would like to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Minnesota! I want thank all of the friends, teammates, family, and coaches at both Minnesota and Peddie Aquatic Association for all of their hard work to help me make this dream a reality! Go Gophers and ATTAWAY!

Brennan swims for Peddie Aquatic Association out of Hightstown, New Jersey. He most recently competed at Sectionals in Ithaca at the end of March. There he won the 1000 in a 9:11.95, was second in the 1650 with a 15:28.15, third in the 500 in a 4:28.54, and seventh in the 200 free in a 1:40.33. Notably, Brennan went personal best times in all four of his races.
Last December, Brennan swam in prelims of Winter Juniors finishing 17th in the mile (15:28.76), 45th in the 500 free (4:32.27), and 75th in the 200 free (1:41.88).
Brennan has made huge progress over the last year and all of his best times come from 2023:
2022 2023
200 free 1:42.68 1:40.33
500 free 4:35.61 4:28.54
1000 free 9:27.94 9:11.85
1650 free 15:45.05 15:28.15

The Gopher men finished fifth out of eight teams at 2023 Big Tens. Brennan is just out of scoring in the 500 as it took a 4:25.66 to make it back in the C final. His 1650 free would have been 20th, although there were not 24 scoring swimmers in the event.

Brennan will overlap for one season with rising junior Bar Soloveychik, the fastest 200, 500, and miler on the team. In addition, Brennan arrives just after the departures of Chris Nagy and William Christenson.

Brennan joins the class of 2028 along with Jaden Heinlein, Luke Mychalowych, Owen Von Weihe, Jacob Johnson, and Joe Polyak. Brennan is the first distance swimmer for the class.
