Bethany Leap Gives Texas Biggest Recruit Yet of Capitani Era

Bethany Leap has verbally committed to the Texas Longhorns, marking the biggest recruit yet, two years into the Carol Capitani era in Austin.

Leap is an elite breaststroker and a member of the 2013-2014 Junior National Team in the 200 breaststroke.

In yards, she has been 1:01.71 and 2:11.85, respectively. She pairs that with a 1:12.12 and 2:31.69 in long course meters.

Leap has very quick hands on top of the water, where she’s one of the best in the class, and with some development on her starts and underwater pullouts should make quick work of the minute-barrier in yards.

Texas just graduated their top breaststroker, Laura Sogar, who was the 2013 NCAA Champion in the 200 breaststroke.

Leap swims for the Sarasota YMCA Sharks, who are perhaps best known recently for their distance swimmers.
