The Michgian Wolverines have gotten a verbal commitment from Canadian Bryce Kwiecien-Delaney of the Oakville Aquatic Club.
Kwiecien-Delaney is a top-level short-distance freestyler and part of several Canadian National Age Group Record holding relay. In long course, he’s been 23.8, 50.7, and 1:54.8 in the 50-200 meter freestyles, in addition to a 55.6 in the 100 fly.
He’s a part of the 200 medley, 400 medley, and 200 free relays in short course meters for the 15-17 age group, plus the 200 medley, 200 free, 400 free, and 800 free relays in long course. As part of one of those relays, the 200, he split 22.83 on the anchor leg in a 50 – showing he’s probably better there than his flat-start time shows.
It’s not easy to get true conversions to yards of his times, as thus far in his career Kwiecien-Delaney has been much better in long course than in short course.
He joins a class that includes commit Evan White, who was also on those age group record setting relays with Kwiecien-Delaney. Two current members of the Wolverines’ women’s team, Marni Oldershaw and Sharalynn Missiuna, are also from Sean Baker’s club.
