Thanks to a partnership with Silver Chalice Ventures and the Mountain West Network, we’re please to provide you with a live stream of this weekend’s Bulldog Invite, hosted by Fresno State Bulldogs.
The meet will feature a partial Cal women’s squad. Though they sent a full roster last year, this year the three U.S. Olympians Missy Franklin, Rachel Bootsma, and Liz Pelton will all remain in Berkeley to train.
For head coach Teri McKeever, though, this is a return to where her coaching career really took off: she was the head coach at Fresno State from 1988-1992. Watch the live stream of the meet above all weekend long.
The full Cal team will swim the weekend after against Florida.
GO BULLDOGS!
Pelton’s on the national team and swam at worlds, but not in the Olympics.
Perish the thought that Teri wouldn’t send an entire team on the road during midterms. The horror!
– “the three U.S. Olympians Missy Franklin, Rachel Bootsma, and Liz Pelton will all remain in Berkeley to train.”
Hah! So much for Teri’s repeated public reassurances there won’t ever be any preferential treatment given to certain members of her team… 😐
CardinalChamps – I think calling this “preferential treatment” would be misguided. Athletes are limited to a certain number of meets every year, and not every swimmer gets to travel to every meet. I would guess that this squad will be made up largely of swimmers who won’t be on every travel roster, specifically Winter Nationals, which has qualifying times involved. Gives them an extra opportunity to race. Cal is far from the only team that will have a meet like this this year.
