DIII Salisbury Picks Up Winter Juniors Qualifier Mason Potts (2024)

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Mason Potts has announced his verbal commitment to further his education and athletic career at Salisbury University, located in Salisbury, Maryland. Potts hails from Lansdale, Pennsylvania, where he attends North Penn High School and swims with the Upper Dublin Aquatic Club.

“I chose Salisbury because of how good the team is being around, working with, and supporting one another. They create a very welcoming atmosphere even for those not part of the team. Coach Parsley Creates and promotes an ideology of hard work, great sportsmanship, and excellent team spirit to the athletes he coaches, which I want to be a part of. I am honored to be part of this team for the 4 years following my high school career! Go Gulls!”

Potts swims a wide range of events, but currently owns 2023 Winter Juniors cuts in the 100m fly and 50m free. He made both cuts this summer at the Middle Atlantic Championships, where he earned 4th in the 50m free (24.02) and 5th in the 100m fly (56.71). Additionally, Potts grabbed 4th in the 100m free, where he dropped nearly a second to post a 52.63.

Earlier in the year he represented his high school at the 2023 Pennsylvania High School State Championship meet, where his school secured the team title with a total of 212 points. Individually, Potts earned 3rd in the 100 fly (49.61) and 5th in the 100 free (45.97), with his performance in the 100 fly marking a personal best. In addition to swimming, Potts was also a member of his school’s state-winning water polo team in 2022.

Top SCY Times:

  • 50 free – 21.61
  • 100 free – 45.82
  • 200 free – 1:40.63
  • 100 fly – 49.61
  • 200 fly – 1:51.62
  • 100 back – 51.97

Salisbury competes as a Division III program in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. This past season, they swam in the MET Conference, where the men finished 5th last season. The Sea Gulls are currently led by head coach Nate Parsley, who is entering his 3rd year at the helm of the program.

Potts is a huge addition for Salisbury, as his personal best times in the 100 free, 200 free, 100 fly, 200 fly, and 100 back would have led the team last year. Mike DeSimone was the top sprinter with season best times of 21.05/46.87, and will overlap with Potts for two years.

Joining Potts in Salisbury’s incoming class next fall is Ethan Litteken and Gabriel Erb. Both are from the East coast, with Litteken coming from Virginia and Erb being from Maryland.
