HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University swimming and diving team hosted its annual Green & White Saturday morning with Team White coming away victorious 161-128.

“I thought today’s competition was great, awesome energy,” Herd head coach Ian Walsh said after the meet. “The one thing we wanted to do when we came out here was have a game plan, step up behind the blocks and on the board and execute. We’re pleased with what we saw today. We saw some positive things we’re going to take to the West Virginia Games.”

Although there had to be a winning and losing team, each side was happy to cheer on all of their teammates to do well at the event.

“It was super special,” MU diving student-athlete Grace Kelsheimer said about her and the team getting in the pool today. “It was a great way to kick off the season with a little less pressure to get in the swing of things for next weekend.”

Now the team gets to look ahead to its first event of the regular season at the West Virginia Games.

“We’re excited, we definitely have that little rivalry with them (WVU),” Marshall swimmer Paige Banton said about competing against the Mountaineers at the West Virginia Games next week. “Even if it doesn’t go the way we plan it to, we’re going to have fun and do our best. It’s going to be a great time.”
