Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
High school junior Jada Duncan from Rocklin, California, has announced her verbal commitment to the in-state University of California, Los Angeles, for 2025-26 and beyond.
I am so eager to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at UCLA! Thanks to the UCLA coaching staff, I am able to call this place my future home. I can’t wait to be a part of this team! 💙💛🐻#GOBRUINS
Duncan attends Whitney High School and swims year-round for Wolverine Aquatics in Rocklin, just north of Sacramento. She is a Summer Nationals qualifier in the 100 fly and a Summer Juniors qualifier in the 50 free and 100 back. She’s got one of the fastest 100 fly/100 back combinations in the cohort –within a second of NCAA qualification in both– and we named her an “Honorable Mention” on our Way Too Early list of top girls recruits from the high school class of 2025.
Duncan earned her 100 fly/100 back PBs, as well as one in the 50 free, at Winter Juniors West last December. She came in 12th in the 50 free (22.71), 17th in the 100 back (53.14), and 17th in the 100 fly (53.12). She also swam the 100 free, going a PB of 50.73 in prelims to finish 36th. Three months later, at Novato Sectionals, she lowered her 100 free time to 50.15 while winning Sectionals titles in the 50/100 free (22.93/50.15) and 100 fly (53.84) and placing 2nd in the 200 free (1:49.87) and 100 back (54.38).
In long course season, Duncan won the 50 free (26.29) and the 100 fly (1:01.17) at Roseville Sectionals. She competed two weeks later at Futures in Sacramento, where she dropped a 1:00.86 in the 100 fly to win the event. She also finaled in the 100 free and 100 back. A few days later, she wrapped up the summer in Irvine at Summer Junior Nationals, where she lowered her 100 back time to 1:04.29.
In high school swimming, Duncan was a double champion (50 free/100 fly) at the CIF-Sac Joaquin Section Championships but did not go on to compete at the California State Meet.
Best SCY times:
- 100 fly – 53.12
- 100 back – 53.14
- 50 free – 22.71
- 100 free – 50.15
- 200 free – 1:49.74
- 200 back – 2:00.24
Duncan will suit up for the Bruins with future class of 2029 teammates Applejean Gwinn and Erica Jaffe. Her best 100 fly/back times would have scored in the B finals at the 2023 B1G Championships and she would have been a C finalist in the 50 free.
