I love the raw emotion captured in the photo of Josh Liendo, Adam Chaney, and Julian Smith; you can feel the crackle of energy and excitement they experienced in that moment, although the image itself is static–that’s an impressive photographic accomplishment.

I think these are best from an “artistic” perspective. Jack is a gifted photographer. Awesome shots. The last shot of water wings is amazing. Thank you Jack. You seem to capture images like no one else.

It’s a Swimswam article. It’s the best of Swimswam photos of American swimmers of the year and Jack is Swimswam’s photographer. Nobody said this was Sports Illustrated’s best photos of the year. I believe the photos are meant to showcase the action and excitement of championship meets on our soil for family and fans who can’t attend. How about a little gratitude to start the new year?

…just seeing the comments here. Jack’s travel budget was a limited in 2023. And, if we’re being 100% transparent, sending Jack to World Champs isn’t always the best investment because World Aquatics puts him in the cheat seats. Governing bodies do not provide swimswam any special access. In fact, they often make capturing media a hurdle. They do provide special access to their photogs and getty and specific media they like. For a big event, we/swimswam will run 200-250 images (and a 1000+ if you count editorial use over the following 12 months). None of that matters to governing boides. For the record, Jack will be at the Olympic Games, and he will clearly being capturing all of the Australia… Read more »
