Cincinnati Races Past Xavier On Senior Day

CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati swimming and diving program defeated Xavier on Friday night inside Keating Aquatic Center.

The men raced past the Musketeers with a score of 199-63, while the women claimed a 179-83 victory.

// HOW IT HAPPENED
Cincinnati started off strong winning the men’s and women’s 200-yard medley relays.

Grace GavinJoleigh CryeSonja Aarsvold and Jessica Davis set the tone with a time of 1:42.45.

The team of Jon OsaBrogan RobinsonDrew Hawthorne and Hunter Gubeno followed in dominating fashion with a time of 1:30.32.

Leading the Bearcats to victory was sophomore Brogan Robinson who recorded three individual event wins in the 200-yard individual medley (1:53.31), 100-yard breaststroke (56.18) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:03.33).

Junior Annabelle Young notched her first event win of the season in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of (5:05.16).

In the final home meet of his career, Gubeno claimed wins in the 200-yard backstroke (1:46.48) and the 50-yard freestyle (20.91).

Davis also closed out her Keating Aquatic Center career by finishing first in the 100-yard freestyle (51.03) and second in the 50-yard freestyle (23.30).

In the 1000-yard freestyle, sophomore Ido Gal and freshman Libby Michel claimed victories for the Bearcats recording times of (9:35.62) and (10:22.58) respectively.

To close out the day, the team of Osa, Brennan MuramatsuOwen Holland and Jet Fuhrmann won the 200-yard freestyle relay earning a time of 1:22.99.

Cincinnati will wrap up the regular season in back-to-back dual meets against Kentucky on Feb. 2 and Louisville, on Feb. 3.

CINCINNATI – Men’s and women’s swimming traveled across town on Friday, facing the Cincinnati Bearcats at the Keating Aquatic Center.

Xavier will be back in the pool tomorrow afternoon, hosting Bellarmine at the Heidt Family Champions Center, with events starting at 1 PM. The Musketeers will celebrate their senior class during the meet with the Knights.

WOMEN’S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Kali FischerJordyn LiblerErin Ritz and Olivia Oyster opened the meet with a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay, setting a time of 1:44.02.
  • Sydney Smith led Xavier in the 1000 free with a time of 10:41.66.
  • Kali Fischer won the 200 free with a time of 1:52.03. She picked up a second-place finish in the 200 back with a time of 2:05.20.
  • Reese Turner set the top time for Xavier in the 100 back, 58.07.
  • Jordyn Libler placed second in the 100 breast with a time of 1:03.81.
  • Norah Simich won the 200 fly with a time of 2:04.05.
  • Olivia Oyster won the 50 free with a time of 23.12. She followed that with a second-place finish in the 100 free with a time of 51.23.
  • Kate Lair led Xavier in the 200 breast with a time of 2:26.40.
  • Mary Sweetman’s time of 5:14.75 led Xavier in the 500 free.
  • Erin Ritz finished the 100 fly in a time of 57.19 to place second.
  • Julia Sweetman led Xavier in the 200 IM with a time of 2:11.47.
  • Alexis WorrallKali FischerReese Turner and Olivia Oyster closed out the meet on the women’s side with a win in the 200 free, setting a time of 1:35.44.
  • Xavier’s women collected four event wins, falling 211-83.
