SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Delaware women’s swimming & diving program defeated Seton Hall in a dual meet by a score of 179.5-121.5 on Saturday.

With the win, the Blue Hens remain unbeaten and improve their record to 3-0 on the season.

South Orange, N.J. – The Seton Hall women’s swimming and diving team suffered a defeat on Saturday to Delaware by a score of 176.5-121.5. Silvia Alessio (Trieste, Italy) and Natalie Heim (Middletown, N.J.) each took home multiple victories on Senior Day.

Prior to the meet, 12 women’s seniors were honored as they prepared to take part in the final home meet of their career: Alessio, Nicole Bastian (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.)Isabella Defonte (Long Beach, N.Y.)Madeline Field (Wheaton, Ill.)Sarah Frie (Waterford, Va.), Heim, Catherine Horner (Lancaster, Pa.)Leiya Istambouli (Danbury, Conn.)Josie McCartney (Verona, Wisc.)Meredith Mutter (Pottstown, Pa.)Laura Stavila (Oakland, Calif.) and Amanda Zajdzinski (Mesa, Ariz.).

Alessio got the meet started by capturing wins in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dive. Her score of 326.50 earned her the win in the 1-meter, finishing just over 10 points shy of her program record-setting performance from earlier this season. She later would take the win in the 3-meter with a total score of 309.60.

Heim picked up three individual wins and four victories overall on the day. The senior dominated in the freestyle events, winning the 50 Free, 100 Free and 200 Free on the afternoon. Heim took the 50 Free crown with a time of 24.35, followed by a time of 52.27 in the 100 Free to win that event as well. Earlier on, Heim grabbed the victory in the 200 Free by touching the wall in 1:53.19.

Heim was also a member of the 200 Free Relay team which earned the victory to close out the meet. Heim swam the anchor leg and joined Lea Moeller (New Lenox, Ill.), Field and Istambouli for a winning time of 1:36.60.

Zajdzinski also earned a victory as she celebrated Senior Day, taking the crown in the 500 Free in a time of 5:02.90.

The Pirates close out the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 3 as they travel to Washington, D.C. to face Georgetown at 1 p.m.
