PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams competed against Holy Cross at Taylor Natatorium in Providence, R.I. on Saturday, Jan. 20. It marked the Friars’ final home meet of the season and the program honored its graduating class. The men’s team defeated the Crusaders, 168-120 and the women’s team claimed a 171-129 victory.
The Friars swept the relay events on both sides. The women’s claimed first place finishes in seven individual events, while the men’s team had nine swimmers top the field.

The Friars return to action on Jan. 27 at the University of Maine in Orono, Maine. Diving starts at 11:00 a.m. and swimming events are slated to begin at 1:00 p.m.

PROVIDENCE – Holy Cross women’s diver, junior Adelle Feeley qualified for NCAA Zone diving during the swimming and diving program’s 171-129 loss to Providence Saturday afternoon in Taylor Natatorium.
The loss drops the Crusaders mark to 2-5 overall while the Friars improve to 3-3 with the win.
Feeley placed first in the one-meter dive at 276.07 as the team took first through fifth place.
Freshman Devin Brindle had three first place showings in the 50 freestyle (27.43) as well as the 100 freestyle (58.99) and the 100 butterfly (1:04.83).
Sophomore Ainsley Nalen brought home first in the 200 freestyle (2:08.43) and the 200 backstroke (2:19.82).
The Crusaders return to the pool on Sunday, Jan. 28 for a 1 p.m. showdown with Sacred Heart in the Hart Center Pool.
PROVIDENCE – Freshman diver Luke Parada of the Holy Cross men’s swimming and diving team qualified for NCAA Zone diving as the Crusaders fell 168-120 to nonconference opponent Providence Saturday afternoon in Taylor Natatorium.
The loss sends the Crusaders to 2-5 overall while the Friars move to 1-4 with the win.
Parada scored a 309.37 reestablishing the program mark in the one meter dive.
Senior Charlie Nascimben took home first in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.57) and the 200 breaststroke (2:22.46) at 1:03.57.
Sophomores Jack Greiner and Jack Sorenson finished 1-2 in the 200 backstroke at 2:08.06 and 2:11.66 respectively.
Holy Cross hits the water on Sunday, Jan. 28 for a 1 p.m. dual meet with Connecticut College in the Hart Center Pool.
