POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Binghamton men’s and women’s swimming & diving swept Marist in their final dual meet Saturday afternoon at McCann Natatorium. The BU men (5-1) defeated the Red Foxes 177-121 and the Bearcat women (4-2) posted a 165-135 win.

“Overall it was a strong day for both teams,” head coach Jerry Cummiskey said. “We had to battle a bit after a slow start but I’m happy with how the team raced and responded. We are looking forward to cleaning up some things we need to work on for championships but are excited to be in the home stretch.”

On the men’s side, BU won nine individual events and two relays.

Junior Elijah Lanfear won the 100 back (51.36) and 100 free (45.77) and swam the leadoff leg of both the 200 free relay and 400 medley relays. Senior Eric Kroon touched first in the 100 breast (57.15) and 200 breast (2:07.62) and also swam a leg on the 400 medley relay. Senior Oisin O’Sullivan earned his first collegiate win in the100 fly (50.48).

The BU women also won nine individual races, highlighted by a pair of double winners. Junior Lauren Kuzma won the 100 breaststroke (1:04.15) and 200 breaststroke (2:17.23), breaking the Marist pool record in the 200. Freshman Haley Nowak captured the 100 fly (58.84) and 200 fly (2:10.06).

Next up for BU is the America East Championship, hosted by VMI Feb. 14-17 in Lexington, Va.

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York- The Marist swim and dive team honored 11 seniors and two graduate students for Senior Day, Saturday afternoon. The Red Foxes competed against Binghamton University, both the men’s team (177-121) and women’s team (165-135) falling to the Bearcats.

MEN’S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Senior Christopher Dauser placed first in the 200-yard freestyle at the meet (1:43.87).
  • Graduate Student Ethan McCormac placed first in the 50-yard freestyle for the Red Foxes (21.13).
    • McCormac placed second in the 100-yard freestyle for the Red Foxes (46.25).
  • Graduate student Jack Cimorelli placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke (57.80).
  • Quinn Smith placed first in the 200-yard backstroke for the Red Foxes (1:53.47).
  • Adam Zaremba placed first in the 500-yard freestyle (4:47.10) for the Red Foxes against Binghamton.
WOMEN’S HIGHLIGHTS
  • The 400-yard medley relay team consisting of Milena JudgeApril AvilaSophia Swanson, and Nellie Thompson placed first in the meet (3:54.69).
  • Rian Dickman placed first in the 200-yard freestyle for the Red Foxes (1:56.40).
    • Dickman placed first in the 100-yard freestyle (53.60), recording two first-place finishes.
  • Milena Judge placed first in the 100-yard backstroke (59.44).
    • Judge also placed first in the 200-yard backstroke (2:07.77) for the Red Foxes.
  • Kyra Cavicchi placed first in the three-meter dive (238.88) for the Red Foxes.
  • Charlotte Lepis finished first in the 500-yard freestyle for the Red Foxes (5:13.81).
