ANDOVER, Mass. – The Sacred Heart University women’s swim and dive team defeated Merrimack Saturday afternoon 183-79.

Emma Chambers broke the Merrimack pool record in the 200-yard butterfly wining the event with a time of 2:13.53.

The first-year class combined for half of the team’s wins. Sophia Velleco secured victories in the 100-yard backstroke (59.85), 100-yard freestyle (54.19) and the 100-yard butterfly (59.410). Emma Haas won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.02. Maeve English secured the win in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:58.34 and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:20.27.

Rosemery Nieto took both the 100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard individual medley with times of 1:07.83 and 2:14.89, respectively.

Junior Olivia Velleco won her first college race in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:32.41.

Both the 200-yard medley and 200-yard freestyle relays finished first, securing pivotal points for the Pioneers.

Up Next:
Today’s meet concluded Sacred Heart’s regular season, as the team will next travel to Geneva, Ohio, for the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championship on Feb. 20th-24th.
