At the 2024 NCAA men’s swimming and diving championships, NCAA records were set across 10 different events: five individual and five relay. Arizona State’s Leon Marchand, Texas’s Luke Hobson, Cal’s Destin Lasco, and Liam Bell were the individual record setters, while Cal, Florida, and ASU set relay relays. Just looking at Marchand’s 500 free – given he already has Phelps’ 400 IM record LCM, and the amount of work that has to go into prepping for it, would it be at all possible that Marchand chooses the 400 free instead given his 500 free (I know yards is totally different, but we clearly know his translation to LCM) on the 1st day of swimming at the olympics?
To me it seems like he could go for the 400 free world record (3:40.07) which seems like goals of his is to rewrite as many records as possible….it also may allow him to recover a little quicker for the other events he’ll have the rest of the week at the… Read more »
