South Dakota’s Knowles, Schuttinger Named Swimmers of the Week

South Dakota’s Jacob Knowles and  Sam Schuttinger were named The Summit League’s Men’s and Women’s Swimmers of the Week for their performances Nov. 12-18.

MEN’S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK         
Jacob Knowles, South Dakota 
Fr. // Lockport, Ill.
Knowles collects his first career Swimmer of the Week honor after recording five individual top-three finishes, including a pair of event wins last week.  In a dual vs. Green Bay, the freshman finished second in the 200 breast with a season-best time of 2:12.06, ranking fifth in the league, and was third in the 50 free (22.54).  At the Border Battle, the Lockport, Ill., native swept the 100 (59.90) and 200 breast (2:13.04).  He was also a member of two top-three relay teams on the week.

WOMEN’S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Sam Schuttinger, South Dakota
Fr. // Columbus, Ohio
Schuttinger earns her first career Swimmer of the Week award after finishing in the top-two in four-of-five individual events last week, including one first-place finish.  The Columbus, Ohio, native won the 200 free with a season-best time of 1:54.88, the second-fastest time in the league, and finished runner-up in the 100 free (54.06) to open the week in a dual against Green Bay.  At the Border Battle, the freshman took second in the 200 free (1:56.91) and 500 free (5:08.72) and fifth in the 200 back (2:12.93) events.  Her 500 free time ranks third-best in the league this season.  She was also a part of three relay squads that recorded top-three finishes during the week.
