2020 Olympic Champion Lydia Jacoby came from nowhere to win 100 breaststroke gold in Tokyo. Since the last Olympics her competitive ride has been a little bumpy. Lydia’s finding her footing now as we near the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials in Indianapolis. In this interview she unpacks how she’s training, feeling, and managing the stress of carrying the title, Defending Olympic Champion.
LYDIA JACOBY U.S. OLYMPIC TRIALS PREDICTION:
Lydia’s performance has been mixed since the success of her last Olympic Games, but she’s found her rhythm. I see her making the Paris Olympic Team. Lilly King wins in 1:05 low. Lydia’s 2nd, touching in 1:05.4. But who cares what I think. It’s all about what you think? Drop your comments below.

I think Lydia controls her own destiny here. If she’s on, and swims at or near her PB, she’s on the team. If she’s off, she runs the risk of Dobler or ? taking one of the spots.
There aren’t too many events at Trials where this is the case, other than maybe Carson in 400 IM and Fallon in 200 BR.

Gold Medal Mel on the conservative side? Did Gold Medal Mel switch to decaf? Who cares what I think, what do you think?
…guilty…you caught me on a tired day. (A lot happening in the background prepping for Trials and the Olympics.)
Lydia Jacoby had not swum the W 200 BR since the conclusion of the 2023-2024 NCAA Season. Since the W 100 BR precedes the W 200 BR at the 2024 Olympic Team Trials, there is nothing to lose.
Yeah, lily will win the trials, but Lidiya will be the one to sneak in to the podium..
