Two east coast swimmers will make their way to Villanova University next fall after signing their National Letters of Intent. Mackenzie Niness will move from Massachusetts to Pennsylvania, while Caitlin Daday will stay in state, as they both will swim for Wildcats next year.
Niness swims at Crimson Aquatics under Head Coach Skip Bryan. She was the Massachusetts Division II State Champion in the 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly last season, plus the North Sectional Champion in the 100 backstroke. Her best times include 59.14 100 backstroke and 56.98 100 butterfly. And she has a lot of potential in the 200 disciplines of those strokes, with a 2:04- 200 backstroke and 2:05- 200 butterfly.
Daday is a long freestyle swimmer, who swims at Parkland Aquatic Club under Head Coach Ryan Woodruff. Her best times include 1:54.20/4:58.27/10:10.68/17:00.31 200 on up in the freestyle events, plus a 2:06.39 200 backstroke. In addition to her times in the pool, she is an Open Water National Championship qualifier, and also serves on the Middle Atlantic Swimming Board as an Athlete Representative.
