Hear what the Texas longhorns have to say after adding events to their lineups in Paris.
Regan’s really embraced her role as a superstar she speaks so confidently
The USA Today writer is always a disappointment in her questions, her direction, and her agenda. The WSJ writer is a former swimmer and doing an excellent job writing about areas swim fans want to know about.
Regan Smith’s response to the 100 fly was perfect, and exactly sums up what she was saying earlier: not to let others’ opinions affect her swimming. She was third in that race and you can literally see in the finish how happy she was not just for her teammates making it but individually. Best time by a second from before the meet?? Number 4 all time? That just shows how stacked the US women’s team is in that event and she’s just proud to be in that conversation. I didn’t find her response rude whatsoever. She is simply shutting down the narrative of “you have to be disappointed with third place”. Nah. After that she just went and did Regan… Read more »
What does it say on Shaine Casas’s t- shirt? None of the reporters asked.
Supreme t-shirt in Arabic
Will we get press conferences with some of the 2nd place finishers on the men side? Like Luca Urlando, Josh Matheny or Luke Whitlock, would love to hear from them
When they officially make the team
Regan speaks so freely than she did years ago. Happy for her and happy that’s she swimming well
That 100 Fly answer was interesting.
In what way?
I thought a bit quick in downplaying her chances. But if she needs to do that so be it. Not many would have thought we would have the other two swim sooo fast. Her time normally would have qualified her.
I think she was responding to the way the reporter framed it. He suggested that she should have been disappointed with 3rd, and the new mindset that is getting her over her past roadblocks is more about hitting her best performance, which she definitely did there.
Happy for Casas. He is insanely talented and hopefully this helps him get over the “hump” and he’ll start going best times again all the time. He could seriously contend for medals on the international stage in the 200 IM, 100 fly, 100 back, 200 back, and maybe even the 100 free.
15-20 years ago I played lots of racquetball, mainly for fun, however, I did participate in a few tournaments. My first game during the competition was usually terrible – my nerves were getting a hold of me even though we were playing for peanuts – perhaps $250 first place price. My muscles were tense, felt very tired, and it usually did not look well for me on the scoreboard. During the second and, if needed, third game I usually played much better and felt much more relaxed. I have never experienced similar nervous episodes while playing our regular non-tournament games. I can only imagine amount of pressure some of the swimmers experienced during olympics trials. Everyone reacts to pressure in… Read more »
