Two national records went down in the women’s 50 freestyle. Petra Senanszky won the event in a 24.56, a new Hungarian national record. Theodora Drakou of Greece swam a 24.59.

Senanszky sliced 0.01 off of her previous record of a 24.57 that she swam earlier this month at the Mare Nostrum Series stop in Monaco. The record is her first individual long course record as she also holds the LCM women’s 4×100 free relay record that the country set earlier this week en route to gold.

Drakou also dropped from her previous record that stood at a 24.89 that she swam this morning during prelims. Drakou got under the previous record of a 24.93 that Nery Mantey Niangkouara swam at the 2012 European Championships. Drakou’s swim tonight also got her under the Olympic Qualifying Standard, aka the ‘A’ cut, that stands at a 24.70.

Drakou also holds the long course 50 and 100 backstroke national records.
