Though he’s not expected to return to competition until next summer, according to Charlotte NBC affiliate WCNC, Lochte was back in the pool on Wednesday with SwimMAC’s Team Elite at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center.
In an interview a couple of weeks ago, Lochte’s father, Steve Lochte, said that his timetable for return to competition was August, with full training to resume in February. He does have 8-10 weeks of rehab ahead of him after injuring his ACL and MCL, though opted against surgery after seeking multiple opinions.
In the WCNC video, seen above, Lochte is seen doing a lot of pull work with paddles and working heavily on stroke mechanics. He can be seen using a very light kick, but nothing that would put too much strain on his injured knee. ACL and MCL recovery time is typically shorter than that of athletes in other sports, because there aren’t as many rapid, unexpected changes of direction in swimming that those two ligaments help support.
Glad that he is back in the pool albeit in a limited capacity.Coach marsh needs o keep a close eye on this guy lol
