2024 Adam Szmidt Pacific Swimming LCM Age Group Championships

The 2024 Adam Szmidt LCM Age Group Championships were hosted last week by the Terrapins Swim Team in Concord, California. The meet is named in honor of Adam Szmidt, a long-time Pacific Swimming official and volunteer who died from cancer in 2000. 

The meet was highlighted on the boy’s side by Pleasanton Seahawks’ Hanz Palatto, who took home 7 golds and 1 bronze, winning the 11-12 year olds 50 freestyle (26.71), 100 freestyle (58.35), 200 freestyle (2:09.26), 100 backstroke (1:04.83), 50 breaststroke (32.66), 100 breaststroke (1:12.21) and 200 IM (2:22.69) in all best times. Palatto capped off his performance by taking home the high point award for the men’s side. 

On the girl’s side, the meet was highlighted by a dominating performance by Marina Didenko of Terrapins Swim Team, who took home 7 golds and 2 bronze, including first place finishes in the 11-12 year olds 400 freestyle (4:43.35), 100 breaststroke (1:13.87), 200 breaststroke (2:42.82), 100 butterfly (1:07.08), 200 butterfly (2:26.86), 200 IM (2:26.59) and 400 IM (5:14.73). 

After breaking 2 Pacific Swimming records during short course Didenko continued her record breaking year by breaking the Pacific Swimming Record in the 100 meter breaststroke. 

Other notable performances include Eli Kim (11)  of the Crow Canyon Country Club Sharks, who took home 6 gold medals and had 7 personal bests and Sinavich Kulwarakorn (10), who also took home gold in 6 events and had 7 personal bests. 

The overall meet champion was Santa Clara Swim Club, who was followed by the Pleasanton Seahawks. On the girl’s side the champion was Santa Clara Swim Club while the boy’s side was won by the Pleasanton Seahawks.
