The Senior Lead Coach position is an important role in the makeup of the club as a whole and it focuses on the development and mentoring of the Senior swimmers between the ages of 14 and 18 (mainly HS swimmers). The job requires a person who is very disciplined and organized, and who has great communication and people skills and also a deep knowledge of competitive swimming. The overall job of the Senior Lead Coach is to work with the Head Coach to support Senior athletes as they work to achieve personal and team goals in the sport of swimming.
The Senior Lead Coach will report directly to the Head Coach. The Senior Lead Coach candidate will have to be willing to work within the Gamecock Aquatics training model as structured by the Head Coach and Program Directors.
Duties and responsibilities of the Senior Lead Coach include but are not limited to the following:
- Attend all practices. Vacations must be coordinated to fall during team breaks.
- Develop season plans in coordination with Head Coach.
- Write daily practices and coordinate with support coach(es) as needed to achieve practice goals.
- Assess group move-ups in coordination with Head Coach and Age Group Lead Coach.
- Be mindful of safety of the group, enforce pool, USA Swimming, and SafeSport rules and deck discipline.
- Participate in creating and/or reviewing seasonal meet schedule with Head Coach and/or Program Director.
- Attend all meets at which Senior swimmers participate. At home meets, Senior Lead Coach is expected to assist in meet operations as needed.
- Daily communication as needed with staff, parents, and athletes; coordinate with Head Coach on weekly team-wide communications.
Opportunities exist for additional compensation through camps, clinics, and private lessons.
