Split Comparison
Paris Prelims | San Antonio | |
50 | 25.71 | 25.93 |
100 | 27.07 | 27.18 |
52.78 | 53.08 |
Kos, more well-known as a 200 backstroker after winning the 2023 World title in the 200 backstroke last summer, flipped 4th at the 50 but came home with the fastest split of the heat in the 2nd 50. Although he was 4th on the first 50, he was out faster today than he was in San Antonio.
He will have the chance to improve upon his record tonight as he holds the top seed heading into semifinals. In addition to his 200 backstroke World title, Kos was 7th in the 100 back at 2023 Worlds last summer. He also holds the national record in the LCM 200 back.
Kos is in his 2nd Olympics for Hungary as he finished 19th in the 200 IM in Tokyo three years ago. He has improved since then and is now competing in the backstrokes and the 100 fly this summer.
The eyes of Texas are upon us
The pool can’t be that slow right
Do we think Hubert can rip a medal-contending 100 fly?
I think his current ceiling in the event is about a 50.3, which likely won’t medal.
He was going off at +5000 in the 100 back yesterday.
He still isn’t a huge favourite for a medal, but it was pretty obvious he was going to be faster than his seed time.
The commentator on the global feed said it was a European record lol
Ceccon be like, Italy is in Europe, and European record = WR. Lol
who are the commentators on the global feed? Where are you able to watch that (still think those commentators might be better the the US).
Eurosport is pretty good.
3.25 to 1 odds that Kos will take the 200 back, what a steal!
He wont win the 100 but I am fairly sure he will win the 200
Bowman magic – he will be proud of Kos and Leon after Paris 🙂
European coach of the year
