DAY 4 Finals HEAT SHEET
Day 4 Finals Relay Line-Ups
The men’s 4×200 relay will be a bit unusual. With the tie this morning for 8th place between Japan and Isreael, there will be nine teams in the finals tonight.
Lane 0 – Israel: Denis Loktev, Gal Cohen Groumi, Tomer Frankel, Bar Soloveychik
The Israelis swap the position of Cohen Groumi and Soloveychik from this morning and bring in Frankel who was 21st in the 100 free this morning (48.66) in place of Ben-Shitrit.
Lane 1 – Korea: Yang Jaehoon, Lee Hojoon, Kim Woomin, Hwang Sun-woo
Yang Jaehoon and Hwang Sun-woo move on to the relay, replacing Lee Yoo-yeon and Kim Yeong-hyeon
Lane 2 – Germany: Lukas Martens, Rafael Miroslaw, Timo Sorgius, Josha Salchow
Germany keeps the same roster just having Sorgius and Salchow swap order.
Lane 3 – France: Wissam-Amazigh Yebba, Hadrien Salvan, Yann le Goff, Roman Fuchs
France keeps the same roster, swapping Salvan and Wissam-Amazigh from this morning.
Lane 4 – Great Britain: James Guy, Tom Dean, Matthew Richards, Duncan Scott
Team GB swaps out Jack McMillian (1:45.68) and Kieran Bird (1:47.68) for Richards, who won silver in the 200 free (1:44.74), and Scott, who was 4th (1:44.87). Tom Dean, who was just 1:46.71 this morning, slides from 4th to 2nd.
Lane 5 – USA: Luke Hobson, Carson Foster, Drew Kibler, Kieran Smith
USA brings in Hobson, who won bronze in the individual event (1:44.79) to lead off and Foster, bronze in the 400 IM, and Smith who was 11th in the 400 Free.
Lane 6 – Australia: Max Giuliani, Flynn Southam, Elijah Winnington, Thomas Neill
Australia adds in Giuliani who was 7th in the 200 final (1:45.57) and Winnington, who won silver in the 400 free, replacing Zac Inceti and Kai Taylor.
Lane 7 – China: Ji Xinjie, Fei Liwei, Pan Zhanle, Zhang Zhanshuo
China adds 100 freestyle WR holder Pan Zhanle into the relay in lace of Niu Guangsheng.
Lane 8 – Japan: Tatsuya Murasa, Katsuhiro Matsumoto, Hidenari Mano, Konosuke Yanagimoto
Japan makes no changes.
That went off like a lead balloon. Carson Foster posted the worst flying split amongst the three (Foster, Kibler, Smith).
Kieran Smith isn’t the same apartment as David Johnston and Luke Whitlock. I wonder if that played a part in this decision. There’s no question that even mild illness can impact results even before respiratory symptoms or fever begin. (One of the first signs of Covid is often an increased resting heart rate.)
Texas, Texas, Texas… Florida!
COME ON HEILMAN
Although it’s the exact same order for Korea’s Asian Record swim two years ago, I think it’s a bad decision that Yang leads off.
This aged well!!
Was really looking forward to a Marchand 200 fr. I know he has 2 fly and 2 breast, but I think he could have pulled it off.
Kai Winkler was added to the German team late and is entered in the 100 Fly, I start to think that they are not going to use him on any of the relays.
No triple for Marchand 😀 would’ve been great to see as a fan but Steinway might have paid him a visit
