DAY 7 PRELIMS HEAT SHEET
Day 7 Prelims Mixed Medley Line-Ups
The mixed medley relay prelims will occur this morning, but the finals won’t take place until tomorrow night. So, while some countries will swap out their full roster, others may use the day and a half of rest and use some or all of the same swimmers.
We’ve pulled out the top 8 seeds line-ups for your perusal
HEAT 1
Lane 3 – Canada: Blake Tierney, Apollo Hess, Maggie MacNeil, Taylor Ruck
Lane 4 – Australia: Iona Anderson, Zac Stubblety-Cook, Emma McKeon, Kyle Chalmers
Lane 5 – Netherlands: Kai van Westering, Caspar Corbeau, Tessa Giele, Marrit Steenbergen
Lane 6 – Germany: Ole Braunshweig, Melvin Imoudu, Angelina Koehler, Nina Holt
HEAT 2
Lane 3 – Great Britain: Kathleen Dawson, James Wilby, Joe Litchfield, Anna Hopkin
Lane 4 – China: Xu Jiayu, Tang Qianting, Zhang Yufei, Pan Zhanle
Lane 5 – USA: Regan Smith, Charlie Swanson, Caeleb Dressel, Abbey Weitzeil
Lane 6 – Japan: Riku Matsuyama, Taku Taniguchi, Mizuki Hirai, Rikako Ikee
who the heck thought it was a good idea to ask Caeleb to swim the fly in a PRELIMINARY relay on the day of his first individual final & semi final for the fly at the Olympics after all he’s been through?
This event is nice and refreshing reminder why biological men should never be aloud to compete against biological woman
What a stud. I hope it doesn’t affect his 50 free. Dressel and the coaches must think it won’t.
Such a silly, pointless event.
Kyle Chalmers chasing after 7 ladies was the funniest thing I’ve ever seen in World level swimming
Wait until the final when Pan is chasing after Torri and Molly.
It shows how much better athletes men are than women . I feel bad for the women
love too make cool and normal comments
Feel like this prelim lineup was just to boost Regan and Caeleb’s medal counts
Oh 100%
It was, but when the final will be Murphy, Fink, Walsh, Huske it’s also a let’s make sure as well as the why not.
Australia is an interesting case too. They have the firepower to swap a lot out as well. I think they are going McKeown, Williamson, Temple, O’Callaghan for finals. So where they just feeding McKeon and Chalmers medals as well? It’s also the same calculus as the USA if we are swapping everyone let’s still put together a relay that makes sure it goes and why not feed the stars who won’t be on the finals.
Heck I think China might be similar. Though with their lack of a female backstroker maybe not.
Not against it either way.
Caleb was America’s top 100 flyer and Regan was America’s top 100 backstroker. Whom would you have put in their place?
It’s now possible (albeit probably unlikely) that Dressel could walk away with the same medal haul he had in Tokyo
think he’ll walk away with 10 gold (mixed, medley) when all is said and done
That will make him the most gold medal decorated athlete of all time in Olympic history ONLY behind Micheal Phelps.
I’m starting a petition to ban the mixed relay.
It’s a joke
I’d rather see an 800 Medley relay for men and women!
Pretty unfair for the smaller countries where you probably only have one swimmer per leg
letting smaller countries use multiple swimmers per leg seems like a bridge too far in terms of parity
4×50 relays🙏🙏
Why do people hate the mixed medley so much
The fact that opening legs don’t count as world records prove it’s a fake event
