The Best of the Festivus Poles

When Carly Geehr put together her Festivus workout for Monday, we weren’t sure what would happen. We know that a lot of coaches grew up in the Seinfeld generation, but weren’t sure that the kids would get it.

One young swimmer felt that it was “the dumbest workout he’d ever done,” but he was young, so we’re confident that there will be many, many much dumber workouts in his future.

Other than that, you guys actually did it. Festivus pole and all, and it was awesome.

But really, workouts like this, though they can seem silly, are a good opportunity to break the monotony of tough holiday training. It allows the swimmers to have a little fun without interrupting the work that they need to do.

Here, we’ve honored the best Festivus poles in swimming for 2013. Well done.
