Olympic Gold Medalist Megan Jendrick Inducted Into the Emerald Ridge High School Hall of Fame

Megan Jendrick was honored October 11th as part of the inaugural class inducted into the Emerald Ridge High School (in Puyallup, WA) Hall of Fame. This follows her previous inductions into the Pacific Northwest Swimming Hall of Fame (2004) and the Washington State Sports Hall of Fame (2019). Megan was part of the school’s first ever graduating class in 2002, as the school first opened in 2000.

Since graduating high school, Megan has earned degrees at Arizona State (Bachelors in Health Sciences) and The University of Texas of the Permian Basin (Masters in Public Administration) and currently serves as the Assistant City Manager for the city of Fife, Washington.
Also among the distinguished alumni inducted into the ERHS Hall of Fame with Megan is Amanda Pisetzner, class of 2006, who is a two-time Emmy award winner.

My daughter went to one of her swim clinics back in… oh gosh… probably 2003? 2004? It was a splendid time. She was very kind to everyone. Good to see those who didn’t really get a chance to shine in the “social media era” not be forgotten.

My favorite memory of Megan was from 2004 at Trials. She missed the team by a tenth of a second but got out of the pool with the biggest, brightest smile you had ever seen. You’d have thought she made the team again. It was dignity and sportsmanship at the highest level. When my daughter was an age grouper I used that photo to show her that you don’t always have to win, and you can always be graceful. Well done, Megan!
