Men’s 100 Free – Finals – as reported by Jared Anderson / SwimSwam:
Maybe seeing James Magnussen go 47.7 in the land down under was a good thing for Nathan Adrian. The American sprint star pulled out a surprising 48.26 to blow away a great field here in the 100 free. For a swim in mid-January, that’s an awfully promising time for one of the many great sprinters in a crowded world field.
Adrian blasted out to a lead in the front half, splitting 22.96 on the way out. Second behind him was French star and NBAC trainer Yannick Agnel, who went 49.31 – that was not even a full tenth ahead of his training partner Conor Dwyer, who went 49.39 for third. Just missing the top-3 prize money was Anthony Ervin, who took fourth in 49.42.
Local hero Jimmy Feigen joined that crew under 50 seconds, going 49.57 for fifth. Fellow Texas alum Dax Hill was 6th, Matt McLean took 7th and Alex Coville finished 8th.
U.S. Olympian Cullen Jones highlighted the B final, winning in 50.63.
Nathan Adrian seems to be in fine form. I think that he can go faster even
@ MCGILLROCKS : i didn’t know in which form Nathan would be here from prelims time . I am a great fan Of Adrian and i predicted for myself his win in London . After this final time victory , i am very happy to hear he is in allready great shape for a january meet . Very well done .
Nathan did a 48.7 at training camp in CO. This guy is always expeditious.
Great performance for Mr Adrian.
And if someone has the replays of the races, I am interested. It was so simple when USA swimming posted the finals on youtube until last year. 😥
Bobo – were supposed to get them today. Stay tuned.
Yes. They posted the prelims from today. It’s a first good step. But people are waiting for the finals. They should post the finals from each day race by race. They did that in the past years. It would be nice. Thank you for spreading the word Mr Keith.

I don’t think we have to be concerned about Adrian’s performance here. Pretty decent for Dwyer and Agnel too. Both were faster than Park’s time and Park was pretty quick for himself and a distance/mid-distance swimmer like they are.
