OMAHA, Neb. – The Maverick Diving team hosted its home invitational at the H&K Pool in Omaha, Neb on Friday and Saturday.

At the Omaha Dive Invite, the host finished with at least one diver in the top three in all six events, with the Mavericks claiming five first-place finishes.

“This was a great tune-up for the Summit Conference Championship,” diving coach Eric Sprague said. “This weekend showed us a few things we can work to improve over the next two weeks to be at the top of our game.  We’re in a good position to score well for the team in a couple of weeks, and I’m excited to see this group put the finishing touches on a great season.”

Freshman Owen Kipp competed well this weekend, winning the one-meter dive with a score of 320.60, a new Omaha record.

Senior Ian Blackstock came eight points away from a zone score, and sophomore Will Mueller again met his season high.

Junior Bella Price finished the weekend with a clean sweep of her three events. Price won the women’s one-meter (262.70), three-meter (261.76) and the team springboard event (267.95).

“Congrats to Bella on sweeping both boards this weekend,” Sprague added. It is nice to see her hard work pay off with success. I also want to congratulate Owen on being our new school record holder on 1 meter.”

The Mavericks will dive back into the pool when they compete in the Summit League Championships at the Campus Recreation & Wellness Center in Iowa City, Iowa, between Wednesday, Feb. 19, and Saturday, Feb. 22.
