Carmel High School Smashes Their Second National High School Record

The Carmel High School girls are chasing last year’s Bolles School boys team. They just broke their second National Public High School Record in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:31.37. After breaking the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relays, they have one more shot to make it three for three.

The team of Amy Bilquist, Claire Adams, Hanna House, and Veronica Burchill smashed the previous National High School Record that was set by their own school in 2009 at 1:32.75. Carmel is in route to win their 28th consecutive state title, and is arguably fielding the best team they’ve had in school history.

The splits were:

  • Amy Bilquist – 22.52
  • Claire Adams – 22.66
  • Hanna House – 23.31
  • Veronica Burchill – 22.86

Next season, Carmel will be returning all of those swimmers but one. Hanna House is graduating this year.
