2014 Pac-12 Men’s Championship: Day 2 Up/Downs

The Pac 12 men’s championship only scores to two finals, unlike their female counterparts, so for this meet we’ll just be doing Ups and Downs. Ups refer to swimmers in the A final, who can finish no lower than 8th barring a DQ, and Downs refer to swimmers in the B final, who can finish no higher than 9th and no lower than 16th (again, barring a DQ on the low end).

Stanford entered the day with a big lead thanks to the diving points that we’ve already rolled in to our team scoring tracking. They’ll likely still have that lead after Wednesday’s finals are done, thanks in large part to those 5 A-finalists in the 200 IM.

The defending champions Cal, though, should have the highest second-day scoring total as they try and chip away at the 119-point advantage that Stanford has built already. It’s reasonable to expect Cal to knock somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 points off of that on Wednesday, with actual placings able to push that 20 or so points in either direction.

Did I miss something, or did Ryan Murphy not swim an event today?

Meet Mobile has him entered in 100 Fly/Back, 200 Back and 100 Free…guess those are his 4 events for this meet.

He’s already got the 200 back A cut, so maybe he does the double tomorrow then the 100 free on day 4.

Yup…Missy did the 100 BK as a bonus so I can see him having a similar pattern, although, if Cal is able to close in on Stanford, the 200 BK points will be needed…I don’t know what he would do for a bonus swim- 100 Free or 100 Fly
