COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Mountain West announced today the 2025 women’s swimming & diving postseason accolades as voted on by the leagues 10 head coaches. San Diego State collected two of the four postseason honors while Washington State and Fresno State received the remaining two.

Washington State’s Emily Lundgren was tabbed the 2025 MW Swimmer of the Year while San Diego State’s Valentina Lopez Arevalo was named the Diver of the Year. Fresno State’s Jeanne Fleck garnered the Swimming Coach of the Year honor and San Diego State’s Roland McDonald was selected as the Diving Coach of the Year.  

SWIMMER OF THE YEAR
Emily Lundgren, Junior, Washington State

Lundgren earned two Mountain West weekly honors during the 2024-25 season. The junior placed first in the 200-yard breaststroke at the Credit Union 1 Mountain West Swimming & Diving Championships with a Mountain West all-time and Championship record of 2:07.08. The Cougar also captured the 200-Individual medley title and was a top-three finisher in the 100-yard butterfly, earning her All-Mountain West honors in all three events. Lundgren qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke events. In the 200-breast, she posted a final time of 2:06.18, finishing sixth nationally and breaking both the Washington State and Mountain West records, and became the first All-American for the program since 2000.  She also earned All-America Honorable Mention in the 100-breast with a time of 59.17.

DIVER OF THE YEAR
Valentina Lopez Arevalo, Sr., San Diego State

Lopez Arevalo earned three MW weekly honors and claimed 13 event titles, five on the 1-meter springboard and four each on the 3-meter and platform throughout the 2024-25 season. She won the 3-meter springboard and platform and was the runner-up in the 1-meter springboard at the 2025 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Swimming & Diving Championships, earning All-Conference honors in each event. She also garnered the Diver of the Meet honor at the Conference event for the second consecutive year. The senior was an NCAA qualifier in the 3-meter springboard after placing sixth at the NCAA Zone E Championships. The Aztec finished her season at the national championships with a score of 261.95 in the preliminary round.

SWIMMING COACH OF THE YEAR
Jeanne Fleck, Fresno State

Fleck finished her 17th season leading the Fresno State Swimming & Diving program and was selected for the first time as the MW Swimming Coach of the Year. She led two swimmers to the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championship this season, Aliz Kalmar and Jenna Pulkkinen, for the first time since 2016. They were the first Bulldog breaststrokers since the program was reinstated in 2008. Fleck had seven swimmers named 2025 All-Mountain West honorees.

DIVING COACH OF THE YEAR
Roland McDonald, San Diego State

McDonald finished his 15th year as the head diving coach for the Aztecs and was selected for the fourth time as the MW Diving Coach of the Year (’19, ’20, ‘24). He coached three divers to All-MW honors in the 1-meter, 3-meter and platform events: Alina SkrockiSummer Westmoreland and Lopez Arevalo.
